Chris Neels recently graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor of Performance and Screen Arts, majoring in acting.

He has a passion for classical texts, and before training at Unitec he was part of the National Youth Shakespeare Company and performed as Enobarbus in Antony and Cleopatra at the Globe theatre in London. He has since appeared in Auckland Theatre Company’s Shrew'd.

An active improviser last year Chris appeared in Austen Found’s The Lost Musicals of Jane Austen. He has had vast experience in children's theatre, most recently performing in Smackbang's Maui Magic in Hamilton. A graduate of AYA himself, Chris throughly enjoys tutoring with us and brings his passion for the theatre to all his classes.

Auckland Drama School

At AYA we are committed to fostering the talent of artistic young people in a stimulating, challenging, supportive environment.

Aspiring Young Actors (AYA) was established in 1994 as an independent Drama School to provide training and professional opportunities for talented child actors. Today it is one of the foremost drama schools for young people in Auckland.

Our students, aged between 10 and 20 years, are accepted from annual auditions held each January. We look for motivated young actors who have had experience in either dance or drama and show confidence, ability and a passion to act.
